Big news today.
Big, big news.
Edwin Encarnacion is not going anywhere.
The Jays locked up their DH/1B with a 3-year, $27-million contract, keeping him away from free agency, and taking him off the trade market.
Readers of this site will know that EE is my man. I predicted big things for him this year, and so far he has delivered to the tune of a .947 OPS, 23 HR, and 58 RBI, giving the Jays an enormous 1-2 punch with Jose Bautista.
Though some will wonder why the Jays extended him
instead of using him as trade bait (a classic sell high opportunity), I for one applaud the move. Like Bautista,

In other words, this isn’t a fluke.
Plus there’s this:
According to some tweets by @The_Org_Guy, the Jays will be paying Jose Bautista AND Edwin Encarnacion – combined – $5-million less than the Yankees will be paying Alex Rodriguez in 2013.
That’s good value.
shame on you, A-rod is the man, Bau is a voiceless coward. I’m being cheeky, but A-Rod over his career is well worth the $$ he has commanded. Shame on him for the steriod thing, but he is a top 5 in the history of the game. thats a 500level fan comment direct from twitter. you are a beautiful man.
